KUBBI, is currently singing in (3) three, Deanna Music World singing projects, - Lady Supreme, The Great American SoulBook and I’m Every Woman. February 17th, 2024 @ 2pm, she will be featured with Jet Stream Band performing excerpts from Harriet Tubman’s story at the Elmont Memorial Library for Black History Month in Elmont, NY. On February 24th, 2024 @ 7pm Kubbi will be performing with Lady Supreme in West Kingstown, RI at the Courthouse Center for the Arts, https://courthousearts.org/ Tickets on sale now. I’m Every Woman, will be performing March 10th, 2024, Elmont, Library at 2pm (Free show) for Woman’s History Month. American Soul starts it’s shows in April 2024 stay tuned. Kubbi was cast as a co-lead in PSA commercial to be aired early 2024 and will also be directing a radio play called A Romance in the Air produced by Unseen Theatre to Aire Feb 2024.
Kubbi joined Lady Supreme in 2023, where she performed in the 5-city tour as well as the Tri-State area, where she was also a featured dancer.As a well-rounded artist in 2023 she was one of 6 directors in the Silver Linings Short Play Festival produced by The New Perspectives Theatre Company, while also directing the staged reading of Baldwin's Ni$$er by Reginald Jackson, where the reading received a standing ovation. Kubbi continues to act as well, she performed the Monologue from The Mountain Top at the Kraine Theatre in the We are Actors showcase.
In 2022 Kubbi played Miss Mary Sunshine in the Original "Chicago"play produced by Out of the Box Theatre. Directed "Why does the Onion Make Us Cry,” at the Producers Club, played Vee in Tennessee Williams' Play Orpheus Descending an equity show at Theatre on Main Street a professional theatre company in the Hudson Valley. Kubbi was also hired to direct TADA’s winter show Wide-awake Jake which opened to full houses in March 2022.
In the summer of 2021, completed the director's program at Yale University as well as became certified in Contemporary Drama at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts) in London in 2019.
Kubbi is the oldest of 5, started singing at the age of 5, where her mom formed a singing group with her and her siblings. They sang for local church programs, then she later became one of the lead singers in her church choir. Kubbi’s mother, who is a children’s author started grooming her for solo performances and volunteered her for many programs around NYC. Went on her first musical audition at the age of 8 for Carousel, took gymnastics and ballet and started vocals lessons with the famed Opera singer Joyce Mathis at the age of 12.
However, her acting career began at 15 with the Off-Broadway, New York’s Famed Children’s Theater Company TADA where she was a member for 3 years, her 1st television appearance was “Live with Bill Boggs” channel 5 NYC. At the age of 16, Kubbi won the Most Talented Teen in N.Y.S. in the MISST.E.E.N. Pageant, she was also the 2nd place winner at the Apollo Amateur Night. Kubbi graduated High School with honors and was awarded a scholarship to Clark Atlanta University after a board member saw her perform for the Black College Luncheon. While attending the University she continued to perform in school functions, talent shows, pageants, and homecomings. After receiving her BA, she started free-lancing with several talent agencies in SC, TN, GA, IN, FL, and NYC. Booked her 1st print-ad and was the first African American Woman member of the Atlanta Shakespeare Company’s 1st Apprenticeship with the Shakespeare Tavern. Over the years Kubbi has performed in top venues while on tour with musical theater companies such as Sail Productions in NJ, the Academy Theater in Atlanta, and NY Artists Unlimited. She has performed at the Grand Ole Opry, The Hippodrome, The Public Theatre (NYC), as well as Caroline’s on Broadway. She booked her 1st Union Film in 2006 and became a member of the Screen Actors Guild. (SAG-AFTRA) and joined AEA (Actors Equity) in 2009, also became a member of the Negro Ensemble Theatre.
Kubbi is also a print model with several billboards and ads with Mildred Elley, Fidelis, I Love NY, I Love Philly, Bristol Myers Squibb just to name a few.
Kubbi has shared the stage with famed actors like Gregory Hines, Ricky Lake, Victoria Platt (NCIS LA, Guiding Light), Terrell Carter (Empire), Nana Mensah (13 Reasons Why & The Ambassador (Netflix), Alysia Joy Powell (The Black Messiah) and Cameo Sherell (The Black Hamptons).
